Charity Meets Social Media (including a remarkable statistic)

Caroline McCarthy writes on CNet about how charities are turning to members and donors to tap into their social media networks. Just as runners ask their friends to sponsor their race for a cause, charities are doing the same sort of thing. There are lots of links in her article, and a remarkable quote from Joe Green:

There's $300 billion a year donated to charity in the U.S. alone, which is a really, really big number. Music's a $12 billion industry.
